The Gene Rechsteiner Memorial for Multiple System Atrophy is a non-profit organization formed by loved ones of Mr. Gene Rechsteiner who lost his battle with MSA in July of 2011. Gene's greatest desire was to help others learn about this rare disease and secure funds for research to find a cure. This desire was such a part of Gene that he donated his brain to Mayo Clinic for MSA research. For Gene's family, friends, and co-workers, this organization is his legacy. Although MSA is considered a rare disease, several families in Kern County are currently battling the disease. This is happening in our own community and so time is of the essence. Our hope is that you will join us in keeping Gene's legacy moving forward to find a cure that will be a blessing to future generations.
